Packing
We’re almost done packing for our trip. Now we only need to organize our electronics and weigh our luggage to see if we have to pull stuff out before we leave. Several people have asked me to write about how we pack for a month and a half journey, particularly since on the cruise we have formal nights and evenings requiring a dinner jacket for men. At this point, since we cruise so often, we almost have it down to a science but I’ll share several unique tips that work for us.
We both have one checked bag for our clothing and will take two carryon bags each. A third checked bag is for all of our shoes, toiletries, and various stuff that I’ll talk about later. Shoes are heavy, when you eliminate them from a suitcase you save on weight and space. I hope to play four rounds of golf in Africa, but I’m still undecided about taking my clubs. It’s a hassle but I’ve learned that when some international courses say they have rental clubs available, what they don’t tell you is that the clubs are mismatched, old, rusted, and never cleaned. I’ve played with clubs like that, it’s not fun.
Love the packing tips, especially those that make for a home away from home. Since we typically go carry-on only, efficient packing is a must. Doubt that we could avoid checking bags should we be away for the length of time you are and with the diversity of wardrobe necessary. Alas you confirmed my cruise avoidance with those key 3 words β…uncomfortably high seas…β May your sailing be smooth and thanks for this vicarious experience!
You are RTG ready to go! Have fun
